Wylde were appointed to redesign and refurbish the Bristol based Health & Leisure Club, BAWA. The brief was to create a new modern and professional environment in the tired and dated spaces, connecting the rooms together with a generous linking corridor from reception. We developed a scheme which transformed the Ballroom, Concorde Room and Reception area making a very flexible and fluid space suitable for a conference or a wedding venue. The new reception area is welcoming, bright and modern with timber cladding and bold signage. This is where the daring new colour scheme begins with sharp royal blue walls running through to the venue space, with furnishings adding pops of contrasting oranges and yellows.
The design lent itself to more daring furniture specifications with carefully considered lighting solutions including contemporary statement fixtures for the secluded areas and spotlighting for seated space around the ballroom floor. We created a gallery wall with artwork & photography that developed a sense of place within the venue, complimented with acoustic solutions that brought the furniture and colour scheme together. Panelling and specific flooring options have been used throughout the project to separate the open space into areas that can be used as individual environments whilst keeping the space flexible. The tables and seating options offer a range of different uses whilst being a continual colour palette and formal spec.
We worked closely with our fab team: Furniture23, Artworks Solutions Ltd, Re:Light & D&I Joinery, this project a success. The client was involved every step of the way with valuable contributions in all aspects of the concept and specification. It was a nail-biting finish, what would come first; Wylde Director and project lead Amy was about to give birth to her second child: BAWA had rented out the venue for school exam retakes and the challenges of product supply brought on by the challenges of Covid and lockdown. Ultimately all ended well, we welcomed Jacob into the world and the project was completed on time. Everyone at BAWA is champing-at-the-bit to open the venue and already have lots of bookings for the coming year.
Here’s what Andy Eustace, Finance Manager had to say;
“Thanks to the whole team for your hard work and vision!! It is looking amazing and we cannot wait to show it off to our members and hosting some fantastic weddings and conferences in the future…when we can!!”
