This week we’re so excited to show off our new mural at our home Dairy Studios. At Wylde we design beautiful, practical and sustainable spaces that support people to work, learn and live better. We are experienced and adaptable problem solvers, space strategists and experts in interior architecture. We are used to transforming internal spaces but after being at Dairy Studios for almost 5 years, we thought we should do something about the outside of our headquarters.
Wylde moved into new office space alongside consulting and structural engineers Structural Solutions. The old Dairy building gives us two spacious floors which we completely ripped out and transformed into a bright, airy and creative studio. The outside of the building was a bit of an eyesore with completely unpainted pebbledash which became the target of some unwanted spray painted tags. So, we looked to our in-house studio support Harriet who just happens to be a full-time graffiti artist, specialising in large scale external murals!
Having had Harriet as part of the Wylde team for almost 9 years, we left the brief open, just asking that the artwork would brighten up the building and make it visible and noticeable from the road so all of our visiting partners and clients know exactly where we are!
Alongside the Structural Solutions team we chose a design that had floral and leafy elements with a rich and bold colour palette. We decided to add a cow into the design as a nod to the history and name of the building – an old Dairy!
The mural was painted by applying a colourful base coast of yellow, blue and purple masonry paints using an electric paint sprayer to work around the texture of the wall. The rest of the artwork was then painted on freehand with aerosol cans. Let us know what you think!
