This week in the Wylde blog we’re bringing you bundles of design inspo for your home. This week the Ideal Home Show opened in London’s Olympia venue – packed with impressive show homes, gorgeous garden spaces of all sizes, innovative workshops and inspirational exhibition stands. With the very latest home design trends on show – we’re bringing you the design concepts, ideas and inspiration to get the most out of your home. Turning your house into a stylish and well thought-out home can be somewhat of a project – so we’ll break this ideal home inspiration down into bite size chunks…
The beating heart of the home; the kitchen disco. The trend for this year is set to celebrate the most social space in the house with a combination of practicality and playfulness. Amplify your kitchen design with a design scheme that caters to entertaining guests with quirky design features with a modern edge – introducing the latest technology and integrating gadgets alongside mood-lighting, speakers and bold pops of colour. Add a retro feel to the space with gold accents and metallic fixtures, neon signage or even a disco ball – injecting a fun and playful feel to a functional and modern space.
The living room wonderland – this year we’re expecting to see a revival of maximalism in our lounges! Expect bold animal prints, loud artwork, clashing colour palettes and lots of botanical elements creating a lavish, layered and richly personalised space. Think patterns and textures – and mismatch in a deliciously deliberate way. This trend is about eccentric styles and indulging in individuality – a chance to show off your quirks through interior design.
For bathrooms, this year it’s all about creating a sanctuary – a place to unwind, relax and freshen up. Create a spa-like haven in your bathroom with carefully considered design elements – soft colours such as warm, muted pinks and soothing blues and teals. Lighting is key to setting the mood within this space – with bright, clean washes of light combined with an option to dim and create a tranquil meditative mood. Natural materials, plants and furniture are back in a big way – we’re seeing raw stone the form of pebbles, timber in the form of driftwood and lots of space for built in planters. Add a touch of elegance and uniqueness with bespoke tiling and remember to fill the room with natural light wherever possible – using mirrors to bounces and multiply the light where necessary.
Boho-bedrooms are in – bringing the sunshine to your most beloved space – we’re expecting all things tactile – rattan furniture, Moroccan style upholstery, cushions and throws. Expect warm, sunset inspired colour palettes running through magentas, scarlets, burnt oranges to sumptuous golds and bronze accents. Scalloped and rounded edges are here to stay with the retro trend holding fast this year.
We hope these give you the design inspiration you’ve been looking for to vamp up your home decor and make your interior design a project that you can let your personality ooze through!
